They are not interchangeable
The Gobi is space, geology and camels: gravel plain, ice canyon and singing dunes under the widest sky in the country. The northern taiga is forest, lake and reindeer: cooler, greener, slower, and far more intimate. People who love one are often lukewarm about the other.
